February 17, 2012 – Vacation/Flat Stanley

We head out tonight, the flight is at 10:45pm.  Which I am hoping means I will sleep.  The day of travel always makes me anxious.  Do I have everything I need?  Passport… check…. Credit cards… check… toothbrush… check… MEDS… check.  Ok fine I have the essentials anything beyond that that I forget I can pick up.

Speaking of picking up, we have an unexpected guest joining us on our travels:  Flat Stanley. 

Flat Stanley is a fictional character created by Jeff Brown and he’s used by classrooms to help kids learn “map skills”.  Personally I have limited map skills.  Anyway, my friend D’s niece (Macie) is in the second grade and she colored in this particular Flat Stanley.  They are doing a school project to have Flat Stanley go on some adventures.  I literally BEGGED to have him join us on our South Africa Tour.  I’m very excited and can only imagine what kind of mischief I he might get into.
